To date the contactless ticketing market has been dominated by two/three protocols, alongside a number of national/regional specifications. The MIFARE brand has taken the market to where it is today and is still the dominate protocol used within the contactless ticketing market arena. The OSPT Alliance was established in 2010 and set out to create a new industry stand protocol to rival those well established and dominant protocols. The CIPURSE specification was subsequently created and is a new alternative protocol for transport authorities to consider.
This report will take a closer look at CIPURSE as a specification and product range, providing comparison to other protocols and analysis of how CIPURSE products might be able to establish itself within a market already dominated by other well-established protocols. This report will look to address and analyze those vendors already involved and those not involved in CIPURSE development and the reasons for and against supporting the protocol.
